About me

Academic Trajectory

I received a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from Case Western Reserve University in May 2018 and began the linguistics PhD program at UPenn in August 2019.
In the interim, I spent a summer in Jeju Island doing my best to study Jejueo, took courses in linguistics at the University of Washington and briefly attended a Japanese language school in Sapporo, Hokkaido.

Other

I grew up in the greater Seattle metro area, going on lots of hikes in the nearby Cascades. The background photo on the homepage is one I took during a hike near Sand Point, on the Olympic Coast.
My most consistent hobby is second-language learning- I have attempted, with varying degrees of success: Mandarin, Korean, Akkadian, Japanese, German, and Norwegian. During the pandemic, I have discovered and re-discovered various crafting hobbies and now own a sewing machine.
